p. lopezs new ep may be called the same beat. however, rest assured that this is most definitely a showcase of the paraguayan urban and tech house producers chameleonic capabilities. we ve seen lo¬pez on labels such as dogmatik, tirk and rationalism just to name a few, and he s even grabbed the attention of berghain who welcome him for his debut performance there in april. now he stamps his sonic dexterity all over this five track dark techno aeon ep. expect to be led through a progression of styles and emotions, fist pumps and foot taps all in the name of true quality music.

following on from the white collar boy & somadrone outings for numbers 001 & 002, bodytonic music have called in some friends in high places in the shape of james savage aka naum gabo & l.i.e.s. bossman ron morelli (debuting his ghost 202 project with l.i.e.s. labelmate svengalisghost) to remix the debut release of adultrock, or gav elsted to his postman. a 5 track spaced out funk excursion concocted in gavs secret synth lair in dublin, *chants* is already getting heavy rotation from the likes of james holden, john talabot, pional, annie mac & more.

the hamburg based hannes rasmus released a record in 2013 called *analog ist besser* on gold pandas precious label notown which also featured luke abbott from border community. this put him on the map for minimal electronic melodic music with a lot of tastemakers and friends of melodic techno. his ep on traum *musik für fünf maschinen* refers to the equipment he used to write the music… the title of the tracks however refer to swimming pools.

in june 2013, above & beyond performed some of their best-loved songs acoustically with a 12-piece band, across three sold out shows at londons legendary porchester hall. the response from fans was overwhelming and led to two sold-out nights at the greek theater in los angeles in october, described by billboard magazine as one of the finest and more memorable shows in dance music history.

for its first release of 2014, sammy dees ultrastretch label has called upon monsieur georget. youre forgiven if the name is unfamiliar. his bio offers few clues—he likes his bicycle, vin rouge and analog hardware, the latter of which was apparent on his recent debut for le loup and seuils hold youth label. bold and auspicious, the ep may have left you wondering if it was something more than a first record. and as it turns out, monsieur georget is none other than chris carrier, the long-active french purveyor of hypnotically minimal house.luckily we werent left waiting for very long for more material from carriers new alias. his second release, le vicieu / colle de la bonette, shows that monsieur georget and monsieur dee share an affinity for pared down, wonderfully elastic club tracks. like carriers best work, the compositions themselves are minimalist, but their hardware-based sound pallet ensures theres plenty of meat on the bones. a-side le vicieu is a subtly melodic shuffler, where deep bass growls at the core of an expansive drum set and whispers suffuse the negative space with mystery. on the flipside, colle de la bonette takes the sound someplace stranger and more psychedelic. whatever weird place were whisked off to, though, its every bit as funky, with brittle drums undulating to the kicks deliciously irregular throb. >monsieur georget< might be a brand-new name, but we’re willing to wager you ll quickly get to know these rollers well.

fresh from supporting claude vonstroke on the massive 25 date north american urban animal tour, j.phlip, has finally stolen a moment to complete her latest and much anticipated release. her last appearance on dirtybird called *coefficient*, found the girl from illinois flexing her european techno muscles and adding the likes of surgeon & dave clarke to her rapidly swelling fanbase. her incredible dj skills on the road have been catching everyone’s attention and she is currently prepping to go back on the road with vonstroke for the europe leg of his tour.

gerome sportelli presents sporty limited, a new record label managed by himself as a limited vinyl series. after big success with his krax records in 2004, veteran gerome sportelli is back with a new label project. the genre of the label swings between dance floor oriented house and techno, with a touch of acid and of course some dusty old school flavours. gerome’s already active in the music industry since the early 90’s as a producer, dj, label manager, party promoter and graphic designer. his music ‘smells’ old school, just like the early age of acid house, but infused with today’s intelligent constructions and an engaged vision on music. gerome’s music is made from bronze age analogue synths, love, passion and modern digital mixing techniques.for this first sporty limited release, gerome comes out with three stylish tracks. the first track, a side “drive”, is a fat house stomper with strong stabs and female voice hits. the break is intense and works effectively on packed dance floors. b1 is called “free range” and feels like summer. it’s full of classic house sounds, filtered strings and hypnotic loops. this is a chicago­styled, disco sampled, deep and classy house track we love and cherish. the b2 track, “don’t go”, is composed with a classic house bass, shuffled 909 drums and dark space strings. you’ll immediately recognize the deep and melodic detroit house sound.

we learned to know jacy as one of the artists behind the v.a. called house of 12 vol.2, released on 12records during this year, with the old school atmospheres track touch me. now he reproposes himself under a new pseudonym, the old writer, with three unpublished tracks on his brand new imprint named home of house records. eventually this recalls the same old school memories of his previous works to bring you back another time, with devotion, to the real sound of early 90s without any stylistic compromise. all tracks are written, arranged & mixed, by himsel

pulp presents the labels sophomore release called loves cosmos by us house veteran darand land. after delivering a top-notch remix for the first effort (pulp01), darand agreed to come up with an entire ep for the labels forthcoming output. the result is well orchastrated deephouse sounds with that signature darand land vibe. the opening track the long night and the follow up soothe me both have that classic american house vibe to it while the ep takes a more percussive route on tribute to ron and anthony. darand continues to show his versatility on the downtempo track cling to a cloud which has that dreamy touch to it. jose lau helps out on the b side with his mix of sunshine to peaches. all and all pulp is determined to set a very classic standard in modern house. pulp02 is being releaed as a vinyl only limited product. first come, first served.

just in time for this years festive celebrations, the imprint curated by merseyside edits maestro greg wilson returns with the tape-tapping talent of fingerman. real name gregg holmes, wilson first thought his fingerman pseudonym was inspired by a character from v for vendetta, the cult graphic novel by alan moore, but he was in fact so called after creating a weird stop motion video on a mobile phone about a shouting finger. thankfully his studio work is less peculiar: years of spinning techno in the mid-90s giving way more recently to an going love affair with funk, soul and disco nuggets.
